Enrique Cattaneo - Mexico City, 1946.

enrique cattaneo mini

Large, textured geometrical shapes are the trademark of Cattaneo’s unique style that oscillates between the figurative and the abstract. The press, plates, inks and acids yield to the touch of this expert engraver, who also happens to be a prestigious co-author of the history of the plastic arts in Mexico. His own work explores the possibilities of the landscape, its structure, the colors that comprise it and the shapes that mold it. For over 20 years, Cattaneo has been broaching his favorite subject with an aesthetic permeated by the notion of environments truncated by horizons that are invariably too low or too high and man’s influence on them.
