Juanita Pérez - Bogota, Colombia, 1951.
After graduating from the National University of Santa Fe de Bogotá in her native Colombia with a degree in the Plastic Arts, Pérez went on to take a Master’s in Engraving at the California State University, Northridge, in the United States. Her solo exhibitions include Vida (Life, 2011) at Casa Lamm and Mercados (Markets, 2004) at the Center for Latin American Studies at the University of California, Berkeley.
She has taken part in numerous group shows: Paz (Peace, 2011), at the Turbina Ololiuqui gallery in Tepoztlán, Morelos, Mexico; One Geography, 4 Women Artists Working in Mexico (2001) at the Crealde Art Gallery in Orlando, Florida, and México en la mira de los artistas colombianos (Colombian Artists Turn Their Gaze to Mexico, 1998) at the Museum of Mexico City. Her work features in the private collections of Scotiabank, Bayer de México, Bank of America and the U.S. Embassy in Mexico under the Art in Embassies Program.
