El Limite y el Horizonte(The Limit and the Horizon)
Wednesday November 7 - Friday November 30, 2007
The idea each of these pieces expresses –that matter can potentially shake off the mundane limitations imposed on it– is what takes precedence in this collection. Materials are interwoven and geometries destabilized; sand, wood and mesh defy the limits of semantics and refuse to be objectified. The result is contemplation. Urrutia shows immense passion for the materials he employs. He studies them and reconstructs them in a creative attempt to take them beyond their assumed conceptual limitations. Here, on the borderline, sands, pigments and other materials create sensations and presences; on the horizon, Urrutia, engineer, creator, navigates between rigor and outbursts of passion.
